Pastor Dean & Jennell Sanner
Lead Pastor
Dean and Jenell sensed God’s call in 2004 to plant Discovery Church with a heart to reach the lost in North Las Vegas. Dean is a graduate of Bethany University with a Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Studies and Santa Clara University with a Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology. He is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and a state-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition to his ministry role, Dean volunteers as the Lead Chaplain for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and fishing.
Dean and Jenell are the proud parents of two adult daughters and the joyful grandparents of four grandchildren. Jenell is a retired Human Resources Analyst from the police department and now devotes her time to her family and the life of the church. She enjoys decorating, scrapbooking, and Bible art journaling. At Discovery Church, Jenell leads the women’s group meetings, coordinates church media, and assists with organizing church events.
Pastor Stan & Sheri Steward
Teaching Pastor
Dr. Stan Steward is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and has pastored churches in California, Nevada, and Oregon. He holds a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary and earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His doctoral work culminated in the book Where Sin Abounds: A Religious History of Las Vegas.
In addition to pastoral ministry, Dr. Steward has taught at universities in California, Texas, and Nevada and has served as a visiting professor at institutions around the world. He and his wife, Shari, have been married for eleven years. Stan is the proud father of five adult children and a joyful grandfather to many grandchildren.
Nalani Moenoa
NextGen Director
Nalani “Nani” Moenoa joined the Discovery Church leadership team in 2024, bringing with her a lifetime of ministry experience that began within her family and the Samoan Congregational Christian Church. Over the years, she has faithfully served in many roles, including treasurer, pianist, choir director, deacon, and teacher in children’s and youth ministries. Nani sensed a call to ministry as a young adult and went on to serve as a missionary with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Ukraine and Montana. She has also served her country as a United States Air Force veteran and later worked in Las Vegas with The Harbor Juvenile Assessment Center as part of the Crisis Response Team. Nani holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology and Human Resources Management.
Nani first visited Discovery Church in 2018 after returning from Ukraine to care for her mother during a season of declining health. Following her mother’s passing, she completed another missions term in Montana before making Las Vegas her home in 2023. She now serves as Discovery Church’s NextGen Director, overseeing children’s and youth ministries, and also provides essential administrative leadership throughout the week.
Nani continues the legacy of hospitality, love, and service modeled by her late mother, Afetualina Theresa Moenoa, and her late younger sister, Grace Moenoa-Afa. She also faithfully carries on her family’s tradition of care by supporting her father and other family members here in Las Vegas.
